Subject: Too many women?
This is a very cute film and worth watching. Neil Hamilton is totally wrong in this film. Carey Grant would have pulled it off, but I believe a much younger actor would have been better in the part (or maybe Jack Benny could have done it for high comedy).

Subject: Cary, where were you when we needed you?
Cary Grant would have turned this little comedy into a smash hit. The supporting cast is good enough and so is the screenplay. Oh well, so we have to settle for Neil Hamilton, a good enough actor in certain roles, but he is barely adequate in this one.

Hamilton plays an otherwise ordinary guy who habitually lies his way out of minor troubles. Things get out of hand, when as a result three different women think they are engaged to him. (June Lang, Joyce Compton, Barbara Read) The first fifty minutes of this are mildly amusing. The real fun begins in the last sixteen minutes when everyone involved shows up in a small apartment for a final reckoning. However most of this fun is provided by characters other then Hamilton's.

The bottom line is well worth watching, especially if you stay with it until the end

Good video and audio.

CAST NOTE: If you would like to get a longer look at Barbara Read (and who wouldn't?) she is here at IA in "The Return of the Shadow."
